All tigerexped solar panels and bags are manufactured according to Tigerexped specifications. This means they are equipped with monocrystalline Sunpower Maxeon Gen. III cells of the highest quality class and have other features that allow cell efficiencies of up to 24.2%. They are optimized for best energy yield even in high heat and dim light.
What makes these cells so special and panels so powerful?
High performance even with heat
An improved temperature coefficient ensures 25% less power loss due to heating (compared to conventional panels). To explain: the manufacturer's performance specification always refers to 25 degrees cell temperature. However, a panel in the sun will easily reach 70°C, which results in significantly less power. In winter, on the other hand, a panel may well produce more power than originally specified by the manufacturer due to the low temperatures. Thanks to an optimized temperature coefficient, our solar panels achieve up to 25% more power than most conventional models on the market.
Longer power generation even at dusk
These panels not only offer more power at higher temperatures but also in twilight. Responsible for this are the cells used, which are significantly more sensitive to a broader light spectrum. This means that charging is possible earlier in the morning and longer in the evening.
ETFE surface & microlenses
The surface of these solar panels is made of ETFE. This plastic has similar technical properties to Teflon and is therefore dirt-repellent and very easy to clean. As a result, the yield remains high for longer. ETFE is more translucent than most other plastics and also extremely heat resistant. A fine structure of microlenses is incorporated into the surface of our solar panels. These catch the light better and focus it onto the solar cells. The microlenses thus ensure that more light is processed into electricity and less is reflected on the surface.
Durability
While normal silicon cells are not very flexible and can therefore crack and break quickly, our cells are extremely thin and therefore flexible, which prevents mechanical damage. In addition, the contacting (decrease in power) takes place through a full-surface copper layer on the back of the cell, which means a) less covered areas and a) less contacting.
